I finally got around to taking some after photos of my kitchen remodel.  I repainted the cupboards, poured a concrete countertop, did a slate and stone backsplash, textured and repainted walls, I also put up wainscoating but it is on the wall to the side and behind me (no photos) & last but not least I put down a faux slate tile floor.  Whew!

It may look like a bit of a tight spot but, it works great for me.  Especially now that I have been able to switch out a folding plastic table for a vintage wooden desk....and now I have drawers!  There is even a nice, stable pull out for when I need more table space.  I really scored on this after looking for months.  Thanks to our local Humane Society Thrift Store in Sonora, California.

YEAH!  I have just completed my 2012 Calendar!  My 2011 will be available soon on the link to Avalanche Publication or possible where it has sold in the past: Costco, The Calendar Store, Barnes and Nobles..... I never know for sure who'll pick it up!

Does anyone know what kind of stone this is?  I found it on the beach in Northern California. Coral and lava or such perhaps?

I use this template to form my own earring loops.  Take two pieces of 24 gauge wire and form both over the template using a wig-gig.  Then pound away!  I have yet to try making a bookmark.  Go for it!

Well.... I've spilled paint on the floor, paint on my painting and even coffee on a painting, but this is the first time I spilt paint on myself and it wasn't just a little.

These are the kind of things that excite me.  For the first time ever I viewed Cedar Waxwing Birds in the wild & they happened to be in a tree in our yard.  They travel in flocks of about 40, which is how many there seemed to be. The first four photos I didn't take with a flash but, should of.  Next time I do a visual tutorial I will scan the images so you can get a better idea of the process close up.  This butterfly is on canvas prepped with white acrylic paint.  I use acrylic paint, watered down to make translucent layers.  On my next tutorial I'll have a better explanation of the steps as well.
